HARBINGER RETURNS

First off, let me just acknowledge that it’s literally been years since I posted on this site. Seems the speed and simplicity of social media has swallowed my online presence whole. But that’s all about to change. I’ll be updating JoshuaDysart.com very soon. Expect a slicker interface, a cleaner look and a more pleasurable user experience. From that point on I’ll be shifting the majority of my online presence from Facebook, Twitter and Google+ to this dedicated site and start using social media as my “conversation” workhorse with readers, friends and peers. Hopefully we can make this URL valid again.

All that aside, I’ve got some great news to post. And while my own site is waaay behind the rest of the net in reporting it, at least I’m finally dusting off the cobwebs here and getting everything up and rolling again.

HARBINGER RETURNS

Art by Arturo Lozzi

In January of 1992 a comic book phenomena began with the publication of HARBINGER #1, created by Jim Shooter and David Lapham. For the next three years it burned brightly as the premier book of the Valiant Comics line and one of the most talked about books of the 90′s. Now, in the age of cultural recycling, the powers-that-be have decided to reignite the flame that was Valiant Comics and with it, HARBINGER.

And they’ve tapped me to write it.

And I’m pretty damn excited about it.

Art by Khari Evans.

The original premise is not just timeless… it’s timely. I’ll easily find room inside of the material to rap about corporate dominance, the baby-boomers screwing up everything for the rest of us, the struggle for social control between generations, protest movements, economic crises, class warfare between the super-powered and how we’re just outright leaving a shitty world to our youth. In other words Valiant is just letting me be me.

The artist is Khari Evans (who did amazing work on Carbon Grey) and editor Warren Simons, and I couldn’t be happier with them. The book hits June 6th!

Here’s your link roundup:

USA TODAY has the full story on all four books hitting this “Valiant Summer”.

Comic Book Resources was the first to break the news. They’ve got four interior pages up for viewing as well as the original press release.

And…

iFanboy has my first full interview up along with images of Toyo Harada and concept designs for the Harbinger School Uniforms. If you want to know where my head is at and what this whole thing is about. This is the link.

IF YOU SEE ME AT WONDERCON THIS WEEKEND, SAY HI!! I look like this…

I’m so excited for this. You are my favorite write in comicland. I was going to write more, but I think that sums it up nicely.

Josh! Congratulations! I was beginning to worry you’d been summoned back to the mother planet.

Very excited for Harbinger, and I can’t wait to see your new, improved site.

My novel is finished! I know, it’s raining blood over here. And we’re having a bouncing baby boy in August. Aside from that, everything is pretty much as it’s ever been…

Oh my sweet, sweet Jesus – Lawrence Kasdan has a movie starring KEVIN KLINE AND MOTHERFUCKING DIANE KEATON coming out this weekend. I wish I could see it with you, Joshy. Maybe we could agree to see it at the same time, so we could have some sort of psychic connection while we experience it.

    The movie’s about a dog.

    It’s about a dog, Josh.

Are you in western Massachusetts? I feel like we were destined to see this movie together.
