And it goes a little something like this…
First off, let me just acknowledge that it’s literally been years since I posted on this site. Seems the speed and simplicity of social media has swallowed my online presence whole. But that’s all about to change. I’ll be updating JoshuaDysart.com very soon. Expect a slicker interface, a cleaner look and a more pleasurable user experience. From that point on I’ll be shifting the majority of my online presence from Facebook, Twitter and Google+ to this dedicated site and start using social media as my “conversation” workhorse with readers, friends and peers. Hopefully we can make this URL valid again.
All that aside, I’ve got some great news to post. And while my own site is waaay behind the rest of the net in reporting it, at least I’m finally dusting off the cobwebs here and getting everything up and rolling again.
This Sunday, Oct. 4, I’ll be on two panels at the West Hollywood Book Fair in Los Angeles, Ca.
First up, at the ungodly hour of 11:00 am to 12:00 pm I’ll be on the DREAM ON DEMAND: VISION VS. MARKET PLACE panel along with guests Javier Grillo-Marxuach (Middleman), Mike Mignola (Hellboy) and Mark Waid (every comic book ever).
The panel will be moderated by the irrepressible Christine Boylan (Star Trek Manga 2 und 3). We’ll be in the Comics, SciFi & Beyond Pavilion. Directly afterward we’ll all be signing at The Comic Bug Booth from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, though I might have to cut out early for my next panel in which…
I’LL BE INTERVIEWING COMICS SUPERSTAR BRYAN LEE O’MALLEY!!
Bryan is the creator of one of my favorite current comic book series, SCOTT PILGRIM! The book Publishers Weekly called “A great oddball tale that captures the energy of a generation”.
As we all eagerly await the closing volume of this mad, genius mash up of manga, kung-fu flicks, video games, rock n’ roll and early twenties romance angst (and await with great trepidation the upcoming movie directed by Edgar Wright and staring one-note actor Michael Cera), I’ll be talking with Bryan about his creation, the grinding six years it’s taken to complete it, his dealings in Hollywood and what he plans to do after his epic is finally finished. We’ll also open up questions to you, the weary and hardened masses.
That’s 1:00 pm-1:45 pm SCOTT PILGRIM: Bryan Lee O’Malley In Conversation with Joshua Dysart. There will be a signing with Bryan at The Comic Bug Booth afterwards.
All this Sunday!

One thing the increased attention from the New York Times article has done for us is blow open the global internet. Where once we were spoken about almost exclusively on comic book websites and related blogs, now we are coming to the notice of a new kind of reader, one far more educated on the issues this book bats around with. Honestly, this was the scariest thing about the increased exposure. If anybody was going to call bullshit on what we’ve done here, it was going to be these people. But instead we were met with an overwhelmingly positive response. Here’s just a sampling of what some of our new audience is saying about us…
